For those who don’t know, KIDOLO began out of the deep desire to find unique, authentic, and well-made baby and kid gifts. We wanted to cypher through the noisy, homogeneous status quo of the children’s world and champion the small companies who were shaking things up. Many of those behind the amazing brands we’ve showcased began from a similar place, including Ola Omami of OMAMImini.
When Ola was pregnant with her daughter, the standard for children’s clothing was uninspiring and very gender segregated. “Back then every baby department for girls had 50 shades of pink and nothing else.” On the other end of the spectrum, stores offered black clothing with skulls and studs – essentially Hot Topic for babies to go along with Monster High’s popularity. Which is not exactly everyone’s cup of tea.
With this realization, Ola started her own line based upon the clean, sophisticated, and minimal aesthetic that she was drawn to herself. OMAMImini is now the go-to resource for great neutrals, asymmetric hemlines, and dreamy fabrics.
Every piece of OMAMImini’s collection goes through Ola’s “would I wear this?” test. She ensures every garment is made with the same level of care and craft as an adult’s line. A child’s closet needs to last, and the clothes within this closet need to withstand being worn and washed time and again. OMAMImini will go the distance with style.
Well Ola, we would totally wear OMAMImini too! Just look at those twirling dresses. Kids come to life when they love what they’re wearing.
The toddler and early school age years are vital for learning self expression and confidence. These little humans are unpolluted by society’s frailties and insecurities. They simply are their free, fabulous selves.
The children’s clothing industry is changing big time and it’s a welcomed change. As with all revolutions, this movement is starting from the ground up with incredible makers like Ola and incredible brands like OMAMImini.
